Joan Pagones is the first woman elected to serve as Fishkill Town Supervisor. Elected in 1986 as Fishkill's first Councilwoman, she served for 5 years as a Councilwoman and then ran successfully for Town Supervisor in 1991, and has successfully been re-elected since.

Prior to elected service, Joan served for 19 years in Dutchess County Government in various appointed positions.

 

Joan's civic and volunteer positions have included:

 

  • Chairing the Dutchess Community College Board of Trustees

  • Past Board Member, past President, current member and Paul Harris fellow of Rotary Club of Fishkill

  • Past President and current advisory board member to the Dutchess County Unit of the American Cancer Society

  • Chair of the Step Into Spring Breast Cancer event for the American Cancer Society

  • Former member of the Dutchess County Association of Senior Citizens

  • Past Campaign Chair, Officer of the Dutchess County United Way

  • Former board member of NYS United Way

  • Past Chair of Smoke-Free Dutchess

  • Member of the Vassar Brothers Hospital Board of Trustees

  • Trustee of the Locust Grove Board of Trustees (Samuel FB Morse Historic Site)

  • Past President of the Dutchess County Supervisors and Mayors Association

  • She is also a member of the Mt. Gulian Society and the Fishkill Historical Society, and the Bannerman's Island Trust Advisory Board

Joan is a native of Westchester County. She has resided in the Town of Fishkill since 1971. A graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes HS, and an honors graduate of Dutchess Community College with an AA Degree in Liberal Arts and the Humanities, a Phi Theta Kappa member. She is a graduate of the Pace Leadership Alliance Program and has also attended Empire State College.
